SYRACUSE COMMUNITY CENTER RULES & REGULATIONS
USES:
1. City uses (City Council, Planning Commission, Board of Adjustment, Recreation meetings, and/or other special committees and activities sponsored by Syracuse City) have priority.
2. Gambling games are prohibited.
3. Building will not be available for rental on Sundays or major Holidays.
BUILDING RENTAL AND FEES
Any person/group may rent the Syracuse Community Center under the following conditions:
A. Must schedule for an available date, and be willing to sign a Building Rental Agreement Form.
B. Must pay a deposit at time of scheduling. Deposit is refundable if facility is left clean and undamaged.
C. Must pay the lesser between the hourly rate and daily fee.
D. All events/activities must be legal and be in conformance with all Syracuse City Ordinances.
E. The following fee schedule shall be applicable to patrons wishing to reserve an area of the Community Center.

Alcoholic Beverages, Drugs or Gambling: The sale, consumption or possession of intoxicating liquors or beverages and dangerous or narcotic drugs, or gambling of any kind is prohibited in the Community Center.
Nuisances: It shall be unlawful for any person to use threatening, abusive, insulting or indecent language; to commit any obscene or indecent act; to fight; or to create a public disturbance or nuisance in the Community Center. Any person who loiters in or around the Center under the influence of alcohol or drugs or who otherwise disturbs the peace of Center users by begging, soliciting, making undue noise or engaging in disruptive activities shall be deemed to create a nuisance.
SECURITY DEPOSIT (Refunded if building is properly cleaned)
The purpose of deposits is to assure proper cleaning and care of the building. When the building is left dirty or damaged, the City shall retain part or all of the deposit.
- Deposits are required to be paid at the time the building is reserved.
- If several reservations are made throughout the year, the deposit can be paid at the time of the first reservation and held for a period of one year.
- If cleaning or repair of damage to the building at the time the damage was incurred must pay the total cost of such cleaning or repair.
- Deposit amounts are set by the City Council and are subject to change without advanced notice.
USE OF EQUIPMENT
- Use of any equipment (owned by the City, personal, or brought from any other site) is not permitted unless prior approval by the Recreation Director or Building Coordinator has been given.
- Due to fire codes, open flames in or out of the building are strictly prohibited at all times.
- If children are part of the function, someone must be assigned to watch over them. Children are not allowed to run or play through the building or remain unsupervised.
SET-UP AND CLEAN-UP
- The building/room must be left in the same condition it was before the event.
- Chairs and/or tables need to be set up and taken down b the party making the reservation. It is the responsibility of those renting the building to clean up. Vacuums, mops and brooms can be provided by the City. Dishcloths, towels, garbage bags, and soap need to be provided by the party making the reservation.
- Set-up time for special occasions, such as weddings, lunches, or demonstrations must be cleared at the time of scheduling.
- The party making the reservation must clean-up the parking lot. If any trash is left in the parking lot, an amount will be deducted from the deposit to pay for clean-up.
- Removal of any pictures, plaques, and other objects for the purpose of redecorating is prohibited.
- Furniture (other than stacking chairs) and plants are not to be removed under any circumstances.
- No glitter is to be brought into the building.
- Tacking or taping material on any surface is prohibited.
- Marking on walls or furniture is not allowed.
- Any equipment such as gym floor covers, bleachers, volleyball nets, etc., are to be set-up and taken down by ONLY the Community Center Staff.
CLEAN-UP CHECKLIST
- Inspect halls, restrooms, and parking lot to be certain everything is in order.
- Vacuum thoroughly.
- Thoroughly clean kitchen.
- Take trash to garbage containers.
The building's condition will be inspected the next business day. Please settle any rental fees due at that time. FORMS
